Sildenafil Citrate Tablets

Description

Sildenafil Citrate Tablets contain sildenafil citrate, a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE-5) inhibitor widely prescribed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men. Erectile dysfunction occurs when adequate blood flow to the penile tissues is insufficient to produce or sustain an erection.

Sildenafil works by inhibiting the PDE-5 enzyme, which results in relaxation of smooth muscles and dilation of blood vessels in the penile region. This action enhances blood circulation during sexual stimulation, allowing a natural erection response. Sexual arousal is necessary for the medication to be effective.

The medicine is usually taken 30–60 minutes before sexual activity, and its effects generally last for 4–6 hours. Sildenafil Citrate Tablets may be taken with or without food, although high-fat meals may delay absorption and onset of action.

Besides erectile dysfunction, sildenafil may also be prescribed in different doses for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) under medical supervision.

Important Warnings

• Do not use with nitrate medications due to risk of severe low blood pressure.
