Zopiclone 20mg (Zopimaxx)

Zopimaxx 20 mg is a high-dose formulation of zopiclone, a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic agent prescribed for the short-term management of insomnia. It is used to treat significant sleep disturbances, including difficulty falling asleep, frequent nighttime awakenings, and poor sleep quality.

Zopiclone works by enhancing the action of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that reduces brain excitability. By binding to GABA-A receptors, it produces sedative and calming effects that help initiate and maintain sleep. Although it acts on similar receptor sites as benzodiazepines, it has a different chemical structure and classification.

A 20 mg dose is considered higher than the standard adult dose and may increase the risk of side effects. Such strength should only be used under strict medical supervision and when specifically prescribed. It is taken shortly before bedtime and only when a full 7–8 hours of sleep is possible. Zopiclone is generally intended for short-term use due to the risk of tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use.

Common side effects may include a bitter or metallic taste, dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, and headache. Higher doses may increase the likelihood of confusion, memory impairment, coordination problems, or next-day drowsiness. Rare but serious side effects can include sleepwalking, unusual sleep behaviors, mood changes, allergic reactions, or respiratory depression.

Zopimaxx 20 mg should not be combined with alcohol or other sedative medications due to the risk of excessive sedation and breathing difficulties. Individuals with liver disease, respiratory conditions, a history of substance misuse, or mental health disorders should use this medication only under careful medical supervision.
