Armod 50 mg is a branded formulation of armodafinil, a central nervous system wakefulness-promoting agent. It is prescribed to treat excessive sleepiness associated with narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea (as an add-on to primary treatments such as CPAP therapy), and shift work sleep disorder.

Armodafinil is the R-enantiomer of modafinil and has a longer duration of action, providing sustained alertness throughout the day. It works primarily by inhibiting dopamine reuptake in the brain, thereby increasing dopamine levels and promoting wakefulness. It may also influence other neurotransmitters involved in alertness, including norepinephrine and histamine.

The 50 mg strength is typically used for patients who require a lower starting dose, are sensitive to stimulants, or need dosage adjustments. It is usually taken once daily, either in the morning or approximately one hour before a work shift.

Common side effects may include headache, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, anxiety, and insomnia.
